On May 5th Denmark celebrates that World War II was over and Denmark again a free country. Well it took a another 11 months before Bornholm could say goodbye to the Russians tropes but that is history and not part of this half marathon 🙂
In Aalborg where Jesper lives they arranged the Churchill Half Marathon on the important historic day. Churchill in this matter refers to the name of Denmark’s first organized resistance group during the German occupation of Denmark. Churchill Club, was based in Aalborg.
Jesper finished the half marathon in 2 hours 9 minutes and 14 seconds but most important was that with the run he had a new donation for Sport’n’Charity as Helle Fisker had donated 5000 DKK to support the children who is fighting against cancer.
Bornholm Runners aim has from the time of establishing been to support seriously ill children so the work www.SportnCharity.dk is doing by supporting children who is or has been suffering from cancer fit so well as motivation for Jesper during his training as races.
On behalf of Bornholm Runners we would like to say a very special THANK YOU to Helle Fisker for her generous support and hopefully many more would like to follow her initiative and be open to donate for the good purpose – ANY amount will help the work for the children. The donation is done directly to the organization and further information can be given by contacting Jesper.
During the run Jesper was supported by his wife Greta, daughter Sandra and the two grandchildren Victor and Helena. It always helps to be supported during these long races
